Raised in Newark, New Jersey, Don has played in the New York Metropolitan Area for, so he had a lot of opportunity to play jazz at a young age. He started his career playing with organ jazz groups, which usually consisted of Hammond organ, guitar, drums, and tenor sax. One of these groups included the fine jazz drummer, Eddie Gladden. Through the years he's played for Nelson Riddle, The Temptations, Gladys Knight, and in big bands backing singers such as Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra Jr. Juius La Rosa, and others. He played all the tenor solos on a couple of albums that were issued in the 80's by the Vegas East Big Band. He also did some arranging and playing for Mainstream Records. More recently, he has performed with Richie Cole, and the fine pianist, Tomoko Ohno. He continues to play in big bands which include many fine jazz musicians. Don of course mentions, he can not leave out playing with  Joe Anello, now a resident of Costa Rica. Through him he got the opportunity to play with many fine musicians such the late Walter Booker Jr. and others.
